Net & Spear Chair

Created during a Furniture Design course this would be the schools first attempt at using the foundry for this class. We were instructed individually to make a list of “duets” and after weeding through any copy’s within the class we were to select one to base our chair on. I chose “Net & Spear” early on because I wanted to explore the idea of someone being suspended or “caught” in air vs. using a traditional seat. All curves in this design were created through metal rolling, hammer forging, and torch bending. Joints are welded using MIG welding.
